的外れなワークショップ

ほとんどの教員研修は力点の置き方を間違っている。それは、英語教師として自分たちに何が一番たりないか、を理解していないからだ。

「生徒を惹きつける」言語活動とか、教材とか、「わくわくさせる」導入方法とか、そういう「こじゃれた」「しゃれた」部分を追い求めながら、自分の英語はトンデモ発音、トンデモ文法（←即興でしゃべらせると、スピーキングでトンデモ文法の人は、たくさんいる）で、生徒ももちろんトンデモ英語。

生徒を惹きつける小道具とかマルチメディアとか探すヒマがあったら、まず自分の英語をプロとして聞くに堪えるものにしろ。

心・技・体、というが、本当の順番は、

体＞心＞技

＠確かな運用力があってこそ持てる、厳しい心

＠確かな運用力があってこそ、はじめて意味をもつ　技

小手先のテクニックなんか最後の最後でいい。

目標を示して、そのレベルに到達するまで、叱咤激励する。

英語の授業はそれだけでいい。

小学生も中学生も高校生も大学生も大学院生も、すべて同じ。



Most seminars and workshops for Japanese EFL teachers are misguided in that they try mainly to seek after teaching materials, teaching techniques, classroom activities that they believe will attract even unmotivated learners.  I say misguided because they do so when they, teachers, cannot use the language properly themselves; they speak with terrible pronunciation and lousy grammar.  Teaching techniques are effective only when the teacher can speak and write good English.  If you are a good speaker of English, teaching techniques will take care of themselves in time.
